Deaf have language challenges and many Lao families do not know their child is deaf until later in life. The families often try to cure their deaf children through medicines and other means when they realize their child is deaf. There is a special sign language for the deaf in Laos. Some families do not know about Lao Sign Language and education programs in sign language.
Deaf can be found anywhere in Laos, or the entire world for that matter.
Being deaf isolates someone socially more than any other handicap. Even if you are blind, you can communicate with everyone. That is not true for those who are born deaf. This provides a crucial challenge to the gospel.
Most deaf people in Laos are Buddhist, but they probably don’t understand their beliefs very well. It will be difficult to get the gospel to people who have the double challenge of general communication barriers and religious barriers.
The deaf in Laos need someone who is willing to make it a priority to communicate with them and to help them communicate with others.
* Scripture Prayers for the Deaf in Laos.
* Pray for gospel workers to catch a vision for reaching the deaf people in Laos for Jesus and that in God’s sovereign timing their hearts would be open and ready to follow Him.
* Pray for the spiritual lives of deaf people in Laos to become fruitful as they follow Christ.
