Introduction

The term sarera means scutching cotton, which was their traditional occupation. "Scutching" refers to removing impurities such as seeds from raw cotton. They work as agricultural laborers, in road construction, and in small factories. Some are Hindus, and others are Sikhs. Sikhs reject the caste system, but the Hindu Sarera consider themselves superior to other Scheduled Castes in their region.

Ministry Obstacles

Sikhs do not believe in a transcendent God, one who lives apart from his creation. The creator and his creation are inseparable. The way to experience God is through his creation and through meditation.

Outreach Ideas

Much prayer is needed as the Lord begins to call the 25 million Sikhs of the world into a saving relationship with himself.

Pray for the Followers of Christ

There likely are no followers of Jesus among the Sarera people at this time. Please pray for workers to be sent to the Sikh communities of the Punjab and beyond.

Pray for the Entire People Group

Pray the Sarera people will not be satisfied with their present religion, but will seek the Way, the Truth and the Life: Jesus Christ.
