Introduction / History

The Makrani of Gujarat belong to the Sunni sect of Islam. They speak, read and write in Gujarati. They are not vegetarians and eat rice and wheat as cereals.

In Gujarat among the Makrani, they are monogamous and marriage is by discussion. They like cousin marriages. Divorcees can marry again. There are birth and marriage rituals. The dead are buried. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. They work in agriculture. A council looks after them. Their education level is low, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. They use modern medicines.

In Dadra and Nagar Havell the widowed mother and daughters get forty per cent of the property between them while the rest goes to the sons.

Prayer Points

* Scripture Prayers for the Makrani (Muslim traditions) in India.

* Pray that the council leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
* Pray that gospel recordings lead them to salvation.
