Introduction / History

Who is an Arab? Arabs' physical, geographical, and religious aspects vary greatly, but the ability to speak Arabic and identification with the Arabic culture are probably the two most essential elements. Arabs have been in Pakistan for a very long time, and they come from all over the Arab World. They live in all of Pakistan's provinces. The first contact with Arabs was in 711 when Arab merchants were arrested in what is now Sindh Province.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Arab migrants to Pakistan are mostly in Sindh and Punjab Provinces. For most of the Diaspora Arabs, there have been a greater variety of job opportunities. This has greatly aided their poor living conditions. People who have moved to Pakistan from the Arab World note that women are honored in Pakistan and allowed to get higher education and take challenging jobs. They note that it's difficult to adjust to the spicier foods of South Asia.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Arabs in Pakistan, like the Pakistani majority, are almost entirely Sunni Muslim. They believe the prophesies of Mohammed and the teachings of the Koran are the best guides to good living. They honor Jesus as a great prophet, but they do not believe He offers the only way to salvation through the grace given to humanity because of the cross.

What Are Their Needs?

Arabs in Pakistan need the opportunity to partake of the free gift of salvation and blessings that only Jesus Christ can offer.
