The Faifi are a small people group living in the southwestern corner of Saudi Arabia, across the border from Yemen. Like many smaller people groups, the Faifi are quickly being absorbed into the surrounding culture. While older Faifi continue to live in the area and speak the Faifi language, many young people are relocating for educational and employment purposes.
Saudi Arabia prides itself in being the world's center for Sunni Islam. The Faifi are very conservative, and Sunni Islam is a central part of both their identity and their lifestyle.
The Bible isn't available in Faifi. A translation effort could provide God's Word in both print and electronic forms and be an important step in helping them see the Bible is for them.
"Praise the LORD, all nations! Extol him, all peoples!" Psalm 117:1
Pray that some from this people group will praise Him this year.
Pray for the emergence of the first fellowship among the Faifi people of Saudi Arabia. Pray for workers to dedicate themselves to translating the Bible into Faifi. Pray for the hearts of the Faifi people to be open and receptive to the good news of Christ. Pray for a great awakening among this people group that will result in a church planting movement.
