The Ekere or Pala Ekiri live in Andhra Pradesh and speak, read and write in Telugu, the language of that state.
The Ekere work in agriculture, some as cultivators and some as day laborers. They have a council to look after their interests. They are partly educated, so the gospel may need to be given in oral form. The Ekere practice cross-cousin marriages and are monogamous. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming the new head of the family.
Unlike most Hindu peoples, the Ekere bury their dead.
The Ekere people need to live like to the full. They can only do this by learning to submit to Jesus Christ.
* Scripture Prayers for the Vanniyan Pala Ekiri in India.
* Pray that the council leaders come to Jesus Christ and open the door for a movement to Christ. * Pray for spiritual hunger and a thirst for righteousness. * Pray for faithful intercessors and workers.
