Introduction / History

There are many stories behind the origin and the existence of Seervi (Khardia) Rajputs. "Seervi" means partner. This community has shifted its base of work due to wars many times. One school of thought says that the Seervi caste is a warrior race originating from the Rajput community. During the 12th century, there were many fierce battles taking place between them and the King of Girinar. Many lives were lost. The remaining warriors gave up their arms and migrated to Jalore in what is now Rajasthan. They were later called Kharadia Rajputs. After migration, this Rajput community started farming in partnership with local farmers. They had permission from the king to farm, but they had to give his treasury 1/9 of their production. The King settled them in 24 different villages of Jalore, Rajasthan. As time went on these villages morphed into gotras or clans.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Seervis have always been honest and hard-working people. They have gained the respect and help of the surrounding people where they try to establish themselves.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Seervi Rajputs people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins. Almost all Hindus participate in yearly celebrations like Holi, the festival of colors and the start of spring / Diwali, the festival of lights / Navratri, the celebration of autumn / and Rama Navami, Rama's birthday.

What Are Their Needs?

The Seervi Rajput people need to submit to Jesus Christ so they can experience the abundant life He offers them in John 10:10.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Rajput people will have a spiritual hunger that will open their hearts to the King of kings. Pray for workers who are driven by the love and boldness of the Holy Spirit to go to them. Pray for a Disciple Making Movement among them to begin this decade.
