Introduction / History

The Sauntia are a scheduled caste of Orissa who speak, read and write in Oriya. They are not vegetarians and eat meat and eggs. They eat rice as a cereal. Hinduism is their religion.

The Sauntia like cross cousin marriages best. Pradhan is used as their surname. They are endogamous at community level.

The Sauntia work mainly in agriculture which is their traditional work. Some of them are laborers. They believe in education but have a low literacy level, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too

Prayer Points

* Scripture Prayers for the Sauntia in India.

* Pray that Indian Christians will lead the Sauntia to Jesus Christ.
