Introduction / History

The Mannan are a scheduled caste in Kerala. They are not vegetarians but do not eat beef or pork. Rice is eaten as a cereal. Perumannan is another name for them.

The Mannan are monogamous and like cousin marriages. Some of them work with coconuts, herbal medicines and laboring. They have a community association to look after them. Hinduism is their religion.

The Mannan also live in Tamil Nadu. They speak Malayalam and Tamil. Most work as washermen. They are educated generally. Among them are a few Christians. They use self-employment programs.

Prayer Points

* Pray that the community association leaders lead others of the Mannan to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that Mannan evangelical Christians will lead others among them to salvation.
