Muslim Pattegar live in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Their ancestors migrated from Gujarat. Like many South Asian Muslims, they speak Urdu.
The Pattegar are monogamous, and they prefer marriages between cousins. They do not allow for divorce. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son taking charge of the family estate.
The Muslim Pategars work in business, industry and in private or government service. They have a regional association to encourage them. They eat lentils, wheat and rice as their staple foods.
Sunni Islam is their religion. Like other South Asians, their form of Islam is tainted by their Hindu past.
The Pattegar people need a John 10:10 blessing: The abundant life Jesus offers those who are willing to submit to his lordship.
Pray for Pattegar culture to be renewed and enhanced by a work of the Holy Spirit and shaped into a God-centered and God-honoring mold.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among their family and community leaders to seek his face and enjoy his blessings.
Pray for the Lord to thrust out workers who will be compelled to nurture a Disciple Making Movement among the Pattegar people.
Pray that soon the Pattegar people will have faith that will lead them to live honorable lives that will draw others to the savior.
