Introduction / History

The Kir or Keer are a scheduled tribe of Madhya Pradesh. They speak Gujarati. They are not vegetarians. Among them there are several clans and clan surnames are used by them.

The Kir have community endogamy. The dead are cremated. Hinduism is their religion.

The Kir work cultivating fruit and vegetables and in agriculture. They have a council to look after them. Their literacy level is low, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. They make use of benefits that they can have like health related ones and family planning also.
