Daasanach in South Sudan

The Daasanach, who are sometimes called the Marille, are a people with fairly recent history. Known for their fighting prowess, these exiles from other groups have come together to survive against the rough environment they live in. They can be found in areas of Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya. Having developed unique culture and traditions, the Daasanach are open to including others who are willing to abide by Daasanach customs and values.

Ministry Obstacles

The Daasanach are very hard to reach due to their wariness of outside people and their lack of technology. The only known church work around them is in Kenya, where only ten percent of the Daasanach live.

Outreach Ideas

Continuing work in surrounding areas for peace and better quality of life may encourage the Daasanach to further open themselves up to outsiders. There should also be encouragement offered to the few Daasanach who believe in Jesus.

Scripture Focus

"Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle."  Exodus 40:34-35

Scripture Prayer

Pray for many from this people group to experience the glory of the Lord and allow Him to transform them forever.

Prayer Focus

Pray for the few believers to stay strong and live their lives by example to others. Pray for the Daasanach to have all the food and resources they need. Pray for them to have peace in their lives and with each other. Pray for a powerful movement to Christ among them this decade.
