The Tai Don language, spoken by the Tai Don (White Tai) people, is a language of Vietnam. However, there is a large group of Tai Don in Laos, and a group of Tai Don refugees in the United States. "White" Tai refers to the white clothing worn by Tai Don women. This group in China is known as Tai Kao, and the book Operation China has this to say: "The animistic Tai Kao have never converted to Buddhism. They have a number of statues and altars ... to the spirit of the soil, to the tiger god, and to Tan Sin and Kouan-Yin, local heroes now deified by the White Tai. Unlike most people in this region, the Tai Kao believe in a sovereign, supreme god who is active in their lives...They have been described as the most unreached of all the Tai groups." However, outside China, many White Tai are Buddhists.
Apathy on the part of American Christians may keep the knowledge of Christ from the White Tai in America.
Christians need to befriend those around them who are not yet believers, praying for these opportunities.
Even though there may not be any followers of Christ among the White Tai in America at this time, Christians can be praying for those who will soon become believers. Pray these new believers will become real disciples of Jesus Christ, active in local churches.
Please pray for the White Tai in Vietnam, China, Laos, and the United States. Pray the Lord will lead many to himself. Pray the New Testament will soon become available in their language, and for Gospel recordings and the Jesus film to become available.
