The Thakor Pardeshi are also called Thakur Pardesi or Thakur Padvi. They originated in Rajasthan and migrated to Gujarat and Maharashtra hundreds of years ago.

They have Scheduled Caste status, which is low enough that they get benefits from India’s reservation system. A certain number of government jobs and places in universities are reserved for them.

The Thakor Pardeshi are farmers and livestock herders.

The Thakor Pardeshi people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon.
