Introduction / History

The Yulus speak the Yulu language and live in four African countries: Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Sudan, and South Sudan.

According to their folk lore, the Yulus once lived near the Blue Nile, but moved in the late 1700s because of harassment by the Fur peoples. Arab slave raiders drove them even further away into what is now Central African Republic. Some speak Arabic along with their own language.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Though the Yulus are subsistence farmers who grow millet and sorghum, they are also bee keepers who harvest honey for sale. They get their meat from their livestock, from hunting expeditions, and from fishing trips.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Yulus are largely Christianized, but they cling to animistic practices.

What Are Their Needs?

They need a complete Bible translation and audio biblical materials.

Prayer Items

Pray for a complete and accurate Bible in the Yulu language.
Pray for audio materials like the JESUS Film and gospel recordings.
Pray for them to have the spiritual hunger it takes to seek and find Jesus Christ and embrace him with all their hearts.
Pray for Yulu churches that will plant more churches.
