Lezgins are believed to descend partly from people who inhabited the region of southern Dagestan in the Bronze Age. They live mainly in Azerbaijan and Dagestan (Russian Federation), but there are also substantial numbers in other countries. The Lezgins resisted Russification by refusing to participate in programs to relocate them from the highlands and into lowland towns and collective farms. Thus, the majority of the Lezgins still maintain a traditional lifestyle. By the 19th century, the Lezgins had all been converted to Islam from Animism, and they have since then been very devout in their faith. Most are Sunni Muslim, but some Animistic practices continue today.
The Lezgins are "very devout" in their Islamic faith, and have been for several generations.
Please pray for more prayer warriors to be raised up to pray persistently for the peoples of the Caucasus region.
There are some Christians among the Lezgins in Russia, but there may be none among the Lezgins of Turkmenistan. But pray in faith, believing, for those who will soon follow Christ in Turkmenistan.
Please pray for the Lezgins in all countries where they live, that the Lord will reveal himself to them at the proper time.
