The Acholis of northern Uganda are part of larger Luo people. Acholi people were once largely nomadic and did not embrace collective identity until the 1800s.
They are located in Uganda s districts of Gulu, Kitgum, Lamwo, Pader, and Agago. A smaller number are in South Sudan.
Most are farmers and pastoralists. They have gone through a traumatic time of war.
Most of them are Catholic, and they also believe in their traditional gods.
They need Bible schools, hospitals, schools for their children, etc.
Some are affected by poverty and war trauma.
Pray for God to provide peace in their area.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to bless their families, communities, and churches in every way.
May Acholis find all their hope and joy in the God of Abraham.
Pray for many to be healed of trauma and able to minister to those who remain traumatized.
