Persians enjoy a long history of many empires of kings and kingdoms, poetry, art and advances in math and science. They were typically ruled by a king until the late 1970s, when their last king or shah was overthrown by Islamic revolutionists. Now Iran is an Islamic nation under the ayatollah, or religious leader. The revolution is still fresh in many of their memories and the current government has a heavy hand on them in many ways.
For that and other reasons, Persians live in 39 countries including Armenia. Armenians live in Iran, and Persians live in Armenia. Despite their differences, the two countries have a lot of contact, partly because of their proximity.
Most live middle-class lives in business, academics, etc. Appearance is very important to Persians, so they tend to wear stylish clothes.
They are fiercely devoted to family and family get-togethers are common. They enjoy music, dancing, games and get togethers. They love to laugh and have a great sense of humor.
Though officially Shia Muslim, most Persians in diaspora are fed up with government-imposed spirituality. Some are marginally Muslim, but most live secularized lives. There are usually a small number of Christians among them.
Persians need to know the God who loves them and gave his only son to bring them into a right relationship with himself. Some have accepted Christ's lordship in many countries, so it's possible that some are experiencing the abundant life in Armenia. Armenian Christians have reached out to Persian Muslims in Iran, winning many to the Savior.
Pray for a full harvest of the Persian people no matter where they live.
Pray for Persian disciples to make more disciples and to live vibrant Christian lives.
Pray the Lord would meet them in supernatural ways and draw them into relationship with the King of kings.
Pray for the Lord to raise up strong ambassadors for Christ who will gather Persians in Armenia to walk with the only Savior.
