Burusho in Pakistan

The Burusho of Pakistan live in the mountainous northern regions of Pakistan, such as the Hunza Valley. They speak Burushaski and work in agriculture, raising livestock and crops. Marriages take place once a year, usually in December. Divorce is allowed only for men and only on the grounds of adultery. When the father dies, the sons inherit the property. The oldest son usually receives the best land. Life expectancy among the Burusho is only 53 years because of their lack of access to modern medicine. They are solidly Muslim.

Getting to the Hunza Valley is difficult. This will pose an obstacle for people to take them the gospel.

Portions of the Bible are available in Burushaski, as is the JESUS Film. These can serve as tools to deliver the gospel to the Burusho of Pakistan.

Pray for Christian believers in Pakistan to be Christ-bearers to the Burusho people. Pray for the Lord to intervene in Burusho families, giving them a hunger for the word of God. Pray for more access to healthcare and for the Burusho to prosper. Pray that the Burusho people would have dreams and visions that lead them to the risen Christ. Pray for God's almighty love to become known to the Burusho of northern Pakistan.
