Ansari in India

Ansari in India

According to a legend, the Ansari were inhabitants of Medina, and Ansari was the title given to those who gave shelter to and helped the prophet Mohammad in his first religious war against Mecca. In recent years, the Tableeghi Jamat (an Islamic missionary movement) has instilled religious fervor among them and made them aware of the principles of Islam. Girls often discontinue their studies due to social pressures.

Ministry Obstacles

The Ansari must begin to see that Jesus the Messiah (whom Muslims call Isa al‐Masih) is their savior too, not just the savior of the Christians. They need prayer for spiritual discernment.

Outreach Ideas

Pray the Ansari will be captivated by Jesus and be prompted by the Holy Spirit to find out more about him.

Scripture Focus

"You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains."  Psalm 76:4

Scripture Prayer

Pray that this people group will realize the eternal majesty and glory of the Lord, and give Him praise.

Prayer Focus

There are few if any followers of Jesus among the Ansari. Pray for existing Ansari believers to be effective and fruitful in sowing God's word among their families and communities to fuel a movement of God's blessing spreading from household to household. Pray for Ansari families to be increasingly drawn to seek forgiveness for their sins, and to recognize the wholly adequate provision found in the finished work of Christ on the cross.
