Samon Sindhi in India

Samon Sindhi in India

In the eighth century, Sindhis became part of an Islamic Empire, enabling Arabs to enter India. Sindhi have Persian links that have influenced them. They have their roots in Pakistan's Sindh Province. There are several Sindhi subgroups. Among them are the Samon Sindhis who are evenly divided between Pakistan's Sindh Province and Gujarat, India. The Samon Sindhi work in livestock production. Some work in agriculture. They are not vegetarians; they eat buffalo and camel meat. They have arranged marriages with their cousins. They allow for re-marriage. When the father dies, sons and daughters both inherit the property. The Samon Sindhis are Muslim. They understand devotion to one true God, but they do not understand their need for a savior. They need someone to tell them that Jesus can fulfill all their spiritual needs.

Ministry Obstacles

Samon Sindhis are not well educated, so they will need the gospel in oral form.

Scripture Focus

"Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit."  Psalm 51:12

Scripture Prayer

Pray that when some from this people group accept the ways of God that they will be refreshed with joy and share it with others.

Prayer Focus

Pray for spiritual hunger and discernment that will drive them into the loving arms of Jesus. Pray that God would give the Samon Sindhi dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ. Pray for Christian resources to influence their spiritual lives. Pray for Sindhi disciples to make other disciples within the Samon community.
