Until 1948, Jews formed the largest non-Muslim minority in Iraq and Iran. The Jewish communities fared well over the centuries until Islam was declared the official religion. Since then, they have experienced much persecution and discrimination. Many have since left for places like the USA and Israel. A smaller number are now in Tunisia. Farsi and Arabic are the dominant languages of Jews living in Tunisia.
Jewish communities in places such as Tunisia have felt persecution from outsiders for a long time that has led to distrust of outsiders. Anyone who reaches out to them will need to expect initial rejection.
Ministry for the Jews living in Tunisia should fit their specific needs and build on the knowledge they already have of God's word. It will take people who have unconditional love and perseverance to get through to them.
"If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself, you are doing well." James 2:8
Pray for today’s people group to obey God’s law and love their neighbor as themselves.
Pray that Tunisian Jews would have their needs met and that they would be able to live happy, fulfilled lives. Pray that the Tunisian Jews who already know Christ would live by example and have the courage to take the Savior of the world to their families and friends. Pray for a movement to Christ.
