Introduction / History

The Sabbori people live in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Sabbori people are farmers and livestock herders.

What Are Their Beliefs?

They practice traditional religion with a heavy dose of witchcraft.

In Oct 2023, a local soldier began evangelizing the Sabbori people using 18 MP3 Audio Bibles. At the time, there were 3 known believers in the whole people group. The response has been very positive with 45 people confessing Christ and studying 3 times per week. 19 of these believers being literate and able to lead others. “Even radical Muslims said they felt like they had been blindfolded and blocked from light completely.” Even though only 5% of the village has believed, already plans are underway to construct a permanent meeting place and the local village elders are supportive. For now, the church meets under a tree.

What Are Their Needs?

Community concerns were to clear landmines from the area, a couple of tarps, and a carton of soap.
