The Serrano are a Native American tribe of Southern California historically occupying regions around the San Bernardino Mountain and the Mojave Desert. They refer to themselves as the Yuhaviatam, which means "people of the pines" or Taagtam meaning "people" or Maarregga'yan (people from Morongo). Serrano language is part of the Takic subset of the large Uto-Aztecan languages group of indigenous people of Northern America. Few people speak the Serrano language and few rituals survive. However, believing that the foundation for their future lies in their past, many efforts have been made to revive interest in their traditional culture. The grizzly bear was held in deep reverence, regarded as an ancestor.
Today, the Serrano are working to preserve their heritage and believe in the use of natural resources to provide all their needs. Many Native Americans pride themselves in being part of a specific tribe.
The traditional Serrano culture appreciates each aspect of nature and the hope to encourage a sustainable and harmonious lifestyle. Serrano traditional narratives include myths, legends and oral histories. Each year they celebrate Bird Singing and Dancing, Annual Pow Wows and the Yucca Harvest Festival.

Pray that their appreciation for nature will bring them to a point of being in awe of the Lord for his creation and realize that he is the only one worthy of worship and devotion.
Pray that soon, Serrano people will become part of those taking Christ to those without hope or salvation.
Pray for the Lord to provide for all of their needs according to his great mercy.
Pray for Serrano Christians to put their identity in the person of Jesus Christ.
