The Phula speak a Tibeto Burmese language. They live in Vietnam and China.
The Phula hunt, weave cloth and do basket work. They eat rice with their main meals, usually twice a day.
Some of them live in stilt houses and some in houses on the ground. Neighbors help each other when it is time for the harvest.
The Phula are allowed to have pre-marital relations. They have engagement and wedding ceremonies and marriage customs. Women give birth while seated and sleep on a straw mat. The Phula have name giving ceremonies and rituals for funerals. They like folk literature and dancing. Their favorite instruments include the trumpet and drums.
The Phula pray to male ancestors for good health and to female ancestors for abundant crop yields. People who specialize in rituals play an important part in the Phula community.
The Phula people need the opportunity to learn about Jesus so they can experience the difference he can make in their lives.
Ask God to open their spiritual eyes so they can fully understand and respond to Christ.
Ask God to send musically-inclined workers to share Christ’s love with these people.
Ask God for doors to open as his truth spreads through these people on their way to Christ.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully among Phula elders and family leaders.
