Introduction / History

The Valmiki are a scheduled tribe in Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. They speak, read and write in Telugu. They are not vegetarians.

The Valmiki are monogamous. Divorce and marrying again are allowed. Women help with financial and social matters.

The Valmiki are Hindus but have traditional religions too. They are classed as Dalits by neighbors. They work mainly in agriculture with some of them collecting forest products too. Modern and traditional medicines are used by them. They have a low literacy level so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too.

Prayer Points

* Scripture Prayers for the Valmiki in India.

* Pray that the Valmiki come to Jesus Christ who loves them and does not look down on them.
* Pray that Indian Christians will lead them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to salvation.
