Introduction / History

The Khetauri live in Bihar. Their name is related to agriculture. They speak Khotta and Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat rice as a cereal.

Marriage is by discussion. Vermilion in the parting of the hair of a woman shows that she is married. Divorce and marrying again are allowed. Sons inherit the property but if there are no sons then the daughters get the property. There are birth and marriage rituals and the dead are cremated.

The Khetauri are landowners. They work in cultivation, agriculture and construction. Hinduism is their religion. They have a low literacy level, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. Modern medicines and family planning are used by them.

Prayer Points

* Scripture Prayers for the Khetauri in India.

* Pray that gospel recordings will bring the Khetauri to salvation.
* Pray that the council leaders of the Khetauri will come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him also.
