Introduction / History

The Tingal people are a small ethnic group which is part of the larger Zaghawa group. They live in western Sudan, especially near El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. Their Tingal language is a dialect of Zaghawa.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Tingal people farm and herd livestock. The constant conflict in Darfur has forced many of them to flee Sudan and settle in Chad.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Tingal people are folk Muslims. They are officially Muslim, but they blend Islam with spirit worship. Their faith is divided between Allah and the gods of their ancestors.

What Are Their Needs?

The Tingal people need to put their hope in the King of kings, realizing that he is the one who gives them worth and dignity.

Prayer Points

Pray for loving workers to go to the Tingal people until there are disciples who make more disciples.

Pray the Lord will prepare the hearts of the Tingal to understand and to believe the gospel.

Pray for the Lord to bless the Tingal people with adequate education and medical facilities.

Pray for the Lord to bless the Tingal people so abundantly that they will see he is the only one worthy of praise and worship.
