Introduction

Between 1987 and 2002, the Nuba Mountain region in northern Sudan where the Tima live was a battle zone in the second Sudanese civil war and the area was continually devastated. Due to wars, instability, and the isolation of the area, research has rarely been conducted and has only been possible within brief time spans. During the past 50 years the Tima people have undergone many cultural, religious, social, and political changes. Many parts of Tima society, such as its language, its dances, songs and games, and its religious beliefs are changing. Islam has largely replaced their traditional religion.

Ministry Obstacles

The Nuba Mountain area where the Tima people live is not easy for outsiders to enter. Also, the Tima language has no scripture available or any other kind of Christian resource.

Outreach Ideas

Much sustained prayer is needed for all of Sudan. Pray for peace with South Sudan, and for all tribes and peoples to gain an interest in knowing and following Jesus Christ.

Prayer Focus

It is unlikely there are any followers of Jesus today within this small tribe. Please pray for the entire Nuba Mountain region to be stable and safe, and for the tribes in the area to prosper.
