Introduction / History

A remnant of Xokleng people have survived brutal colonization, being driven off their lands, forcibly assimilated into other cultures, and starved as construction, logging, business, and government interests moved into their hunting and farmlands.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Today they live in government villages under controlled circumstances. We know little about their daily lives.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Spiritual beliefs of most Xokleng people in Brazil are deeply rooted in their ethnic identity. “Conversion” essentially equates to cultural assimilation or even betrayal in the minds of those who have been taken advantage of. Only the Lord Jesus can deal with fear factors involved in considering his love for them, and his provision for the penalty for their sins.

What Are Their Needs?

Bible portions have been translated into the spoken language of Xokleng people, but they are still mostly unreached with the gospel.

They need to see their critical need for their savior, who loves them and desires a personal relationship with them.

Prayer Points

Pray for Xokleng people in Brazil to experience the fullness of the Holy Spirit and the overflowing, gracious love of God.

Pray for a mass awakening among Xokleng people and deep movements of church planting and discipleship as they pursue God’s true righteousness and holiness.

Pray for many to put the gospel message to culturally appropriate songs and teach them to others.
