Introduction / History

The Lopawa people speak a dialect of the Kanuri language.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Lopawa are semi-nomadic herders who move their cattle from one grazing land to another. They have great knowledge of their environment, and generations of experience as herders.

Though they are part of the greater Kanuri group, the Lopawa have their own culture and practices.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Lopawa people are officially Muslim, but they often depend on the spirit world for practical needs. They agree with the basic Muslim doctrines. Most would fast during the month of Ramadan, and the devout among them pray five times daily. Others attend the mosque for prayer on Fridays.

What Are Their Needs?

These people need to put their hope and identity in the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Prayer Points

Pray for workers to go to the Lopawa people, and for their hearts to be ready to receive their savior.

Pray for families of believers loving and serving others to grow reproducing churches.

Pray for a chain reaction of families reaching families that results in thousands of new believers who share their faith with others.

Pray for grace and truth expanding into their entire society as all believers learn to love others.
