Introduction / History

Dumbo (also known as Kemedzung) is an ethnic group of people made up of Hausas and other natives from Nkambe. This area was founded as a farmland years back. The people could live only on hunting and farming. Later on the government came and established a cattle ranch in this area known as SODEPA DUMBO RANCH. The Germans who were locally constructing a stretch of road to Nigeria build some of their rest houses in this village which are existing till date.


Where Are they Located?

This village is located at the north-western part of Nkambe Dongamantung division of the North-West region of Cameroon. It has Kwei, Sabonguida and Gidajukum which shares boundary with a Nigeria village called Bissoula.


What Are Their Lives Like?

The majority live in their ethnic culture while western way is fast growing today as technology is evolving. They also do small trades with their agricultural products such as groundnuts, cassava, sweet potatoes which they sell home and excess is taken to Nkambe to sell. They use beer and locally made corn beer known as sha to celebrate their day.


What Are Their Beliefs?

The majority are Christians. Others are Muslims or practice traditional beliefs.
