The Bulgeda people of Chad are a subtribe of the warlike Teda people. They are farmers and herders who are living on the edge of existence. They need water and good soil to ensure that they can thrive economically, but this is not happening as the Sahel Desert continues to engulf more of this part of central Africa.
The Bulgeda people live in western Chad where the Sahel Desert is gobbling up soil and leaving people with few if any good choices.
The Bulgeda people of Chad earn a meager living by raising livestock and crops. Their homeland is becoming more dry, which is making it harder for them to raise enough food for their families. It is very possible that they will not be able to continue their nomadic lifestyle in future decades.
The Bulgeda people are animistic, meaning that they have their own tribal religious beliefs. They go to witchdoctors for practical, everyday problems. However, they are also Sunni Muslim, so they believe in Allah as the creator, and that Mohammed was his final, infallible prophet.
The Bulgeda people live in a land of drought. They need someone to help them drill water wells. These wells will need to be repairable with local materials.
May the Bulgedas soon be freed from their spiritual and physical bondage.
Pray that the folk-Islamic Bulgeda people of Chad will desire to know more about the God of the Bible.
Pray that they will accept Jesus, and through His teachings gain the hope that will give them strength to face their many trials.
May they have joy in knowing Him and receiving eternal life.
Scripture Prayers for the Bulgeda in Chad.
