Traditionally the Jhinwar peoples have been associated with boating, fishing and carrying water. Others milled grain for a living. Recently, they have entered stone-cutting, agriculture, and the road-building professions.
Most Muslim Jhinwar people live in Punjab or Sindh Provinces of Pakistan.
The Jhinwar people are considered to be either Other Backward Castes (OBGs) or a Scheduled caste. These are both low status groups. That makes a big difference in just about any South Asian culture.
Muslim Jhinwar people adhere to the teachings of Mohammed as spelled out in the Koran, but few if any can read Classical Arabic, the language of the Islamic holy book. For this reason, they depend on their imams and mullahs to teach them the fundamentals of Islam. They hope that their good deeds will outweigh their bad deeds on the day of judgment.
No matter what religious affiliation they have, Jhinwar people need to make Christ central to their identity. He needs to be the one they trust.
Pray that God's Holy Spirit will open new doors in hearts to positive change among the Jhinwar people.
Pray for Jhinwar Muslims to have a Holy Spirit driven hunger for spiritual truth that will drive them to the Lord.
Pray for the Lord to thrust out new workers who will lovingly stick with these people until they have a church planting movement.
Pray for a disciple-making movement to sweep through Muslim Jhinwar communities.
