The Khetauri name is related to agriculture. They live in Bihar. They speak Khotta and Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians. They are a Scheduled Tribe, which means they have low status as tribals.
The Khetauri are landowners. They work in agriculture and construction. They have a low literacy level, so the gospel will need to be presented in oral forms. Families arrange marriages for the next generation. A sign that a woman is married is she has vermilion in the parting of her hair. They allow for divorce and remarriage. Sons inherit the property but if there are no sons then the daughters get the property.
The Khetauri people practice Hinduism, the ancient religion of India. Hinduism is a catch-all phrase for the local religions of South Asia, so it is very diverse. At the popular level, Hindus worship and serve the gods of the Hindu pantheon. They visit Hindu temples and offer prayers, food, flowers, and incense to their gods in hopes of gaining protection and benefits. They do not have a personal or familial relationship with their gods like Christians or Jews. There are other Hindus who are much more philosophical, especially among the Brahmins.
The Khetauri people need a relationship with God the Father so they can be given His guidance through all of life's economic, social and spiritual trials.
Pray for the Lord to thrust out workers for the Khetauri people. Pray for the Khetauri people to understand that they need a Savior. Pray that the council leaders of the Khetauri to accept the lordship of Christ and to open their community to others who want Him in their lives as well.
