The Nahukwa of Brazil are a small tribe in the Upper Xingu. Mention is made of them in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The Nahukwa have mixed marriages and speak a Karib language. They make necklaces of snail shells which are well liked in the region and which they use for trade with other tribes for pots. They keep salt stocks.
The Nahukwa fish and also hunt birds and monkeys. They eat eggs and cassava bread. They go out of the village and get the eggs and give them to the others.
The Nahukwa have few numbers due to diseases from those not of the tribe and also from local battles. Though they have doctors, they use shamans. Their religion is an ethnic one.
* Scripture Prayers for the Nahukwa in Brazil.
* Pray that Brazilian Christians will lead the Nahukwa to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that they will be disease free and not go extinct.
