Amapa is a French-based Creole language spoken by the Karupuna people of the Uaca Indian Reservation in northern Brazil. It involves influences from indigenous languages, especially words having to do with plant life. Those who speak this language can be African or from one of the local indigenous peoples. This reservation is very close to French Guiana, which explains the French linguistic influence. Amapa Creole speakers also speak Portuguese, Brazil’s trade language.
Amapa Creole speakers are mainly farmers.
Though they have a sizable Roman Catholic population, they also adhere to their traditional religious beliefs.
Amapa Creole people need to put all their faith in Jesus Christ alone.
Pray for Amapa Creole disciples who love the Lord to disciple others.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully among the Amapa Creole, leading them to the cross.
Pray for the Lord to give dreams and visions to Amapa Creole elders, leading them to seek and find Christ.
