Introduction / History

The word Pulayan comes from the word Pula meaning pollution. They are a scheduled caste and Hinduism is their religion.

The Pulayan of Kerala speak, read and write in Malayalam. They are not vegetarians but do not eat beef and pork. Rice is their main food. They can marry their cousins. Most of them are landless and they work in agriculture and cultivation. Women help in the work too.

The Pulayan of Tamil Nadu speak Tamil. They have many similarities to those in Kerala. They use modern medicine and favor education. Family planning is not perferred by them.

Prayer Points

* Pray that Indian Christians will help lead the Pulayan to salvation.
* Pray that gospel materials and the internet will lead them to Jesus Christ too.
