Introduction / History

Ciwogai (Tsagu) is an Afro-Asiatic language spoken in Bauchi State, Nigeria.

Where Are they Located?

The Tsagu people are located in the Bauchi State, Nigeria. They are part of the Chadic people cluster within Sub-Saharan Africa.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Bauchi state is largely agricultural, so the Tsagu people's lives depend on the success of their harvest. They grow cotton, groundnuts, millet, tomatoes, and yams. There are also industries such as food processing, canning and mining for tin and a mineral called columbite. Due to the large amount of wild animals in the Yankari National Park and its Wikki Warm Springs, tourism is also a successful industry. They have shopping malls; they also have markets in some of their villages. Their major means of transportation are motorbike; vehicle and they also trek to nearby villages. The Tsagu do have a primary school but it is temporarily closed.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The majority of the Tsagu practice ethnoreligion. Ethnoreligion is deeply rooted in a people's ethnic identity.

What Are Their Needs?

Their biggest need is that they will encounter Jesus. For a successful harvest and for the primary school to reopen would also be good.

Prayer Points

Pray that the Tsagu people will have a dramatic encounter with Jesus.
Pray for boldness for believers to share the gospel with love.
Pray that the identity of the Tsagu people will be children of the living God.
