The Tenharim, sometimes referred to together with the Parintintin, are an indigenous people living in the southern Amazonas region of Brazil. They belong to the Tupi-Guarani linguistic family. Their history has been shaped by contact related to road construction and regional development, leading to social tension and land challenges.
Tenharim communities live in villages where agriculture, hunting, and fishing are central to daily life. Family ties and communal cooperation are essential. Interaction with nearby towns has increased, affecting traditional patterns while also providing access to services.
Traditional Tenharim beliefs include spiritual beings and ritual practices connected to nature and ancestors. These beliefs influence moral values, healing practices, and social relationships. Some Tenharim believe in Christ and go to the Baptist Church.
The Tenharim face needs related to land security, health, and peaceful relations with surrounding society.
Pray that the Christians in this tribe will grow in maturity and receive a new measure of faith to spread the gospel, make new disciples, and spark a revival in the village.
Pray for the missionaries in the field, that the Lord will renew their strength and that they will keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, winning lives for Christ so that those lives may reach other indigenous tribes as well.
Pray for the health and education of the Tenharim, that the Lord will supply the needs of this people and be glorified.
