Introduction / History

Aari people are one of the more than 80 nations (peoples speaking different languages) in Ethiopia. They speak the Aaraph language. They were peasants until the modernization of their society. Unfortunately, more than 70% continue to be unable to read.

Where Are they Located?

They live in the southern part of the country.

What Are Their Lives Like?

They live a very poor life when compared to other people groups in the country. They farm traditionally, have a poor diet and many of them live in absolute poverty.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Previously, Christianity was preached. They have had their own belief and they used to worship two gods, the god Saabi and the goddess Beri. Today, most of them are Protestant Christians and others pagan and Orthodox Christians. Most don't know why they're Protestant, Orthodox or pagan. What a tragedy!

Prayer Points

Pray that their society will be transformed in their minds and prosper in their economy.
