The Bhurtia derive their community name from the term bhul because they believe they were ordained by God to pursue the occupation of buffalo-grazing. They often use Singh as their surname.
Child marriage and bride-price are prevalent practices. Madhya Pradesh (the primary home of this people group) has stern laws limiting conversions to Christianity.
Their family deities are Dulhadeo, Sitala Devi, Thakur Baba and Panch Piria; village deities are DSh and Garbara Devi, and their regional deity is Bindyabasim Devi. Their sacred specialists are a priest and a sorcerer.
The Bhurtia people need the chance to be blessed by the only savior.
Pray their hearts will be prepared as the gospel comes to them.
Pray the Bhurtia people will have many opportunities to hear the good news of Christ in ways they understand.
Pray for Bhurtia disciples to make many more disciples.
