The Kambeba people are also known as the Omagua. They are among the indigenous peoples of South America. The Spanish and Portuguese colonists wanted to exploit the resources of their colony, and they used the indigenous peoples like the Kambeba for this purpose. Some fled to the jungles to avoid becoming virtual slaves.
Because of abuse faced by indigenous peoples in the past, the Kambeba present themselves as non-indigenous. For that reason, they speak Spanish in Peru or Portuguese in Brazil. The Kambeba relate well with the military, government officials, merchants and church clergy. They use diplomacy when they must to protect their land rights. The Kambeba allow marriage with people outside their tribe, but that person needs to become Kambeba after the wedding.
Though there are traditional beliefs sprinkled in with Christianity, the Kambeda are almost always either Catholic or Pentecostal.
The Kambeba people need more educational opportunities so they can prosper economically.
Pray for Kambeba disciples to make more disciples who will make even more disciples.
Pray for Kambeba churches to be Christ centered and Bible literate.
Pray for a hunger for truth that will lead Kambeba leaders to point the way to Jesus Christ.
