The Siasi Lokep in PNG are an indigenous people group living in the East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea, particularly in areas near coastal plains and lower river valleys along the northern coast. Multilingualism is common, and while the Lokep language (used by the Siasi Lokep) is central within their community, broader communication with other groups often involves trade languages such as Tok Pisin.
The Siasi Lokep are largely identified with Christianity, and Christian teaching has a meaningful presence in their families and communities. Church gatherings and worship play important roles in shaping values and providing spaces for instruction and fellowship. Many also put their faith in local spirits, highlighting the need for discipleship and Bible translation. Portions of Scripture, including the New Testament, are available in the Lokep language, providing access to foundational biblical texts in a language people can understand.
Equipping local leaders with sound biblical understanding is essential so that pastors and teachers can guide their communities with wisdom and truth. Strong leadership supports both spiritual growth and practical community life.
Because many Siasi Lokep communities are located in rural settings with limited infrastructure, practical challenges such as access to education, transportation, and resources can affect both daily living and ministry development. Addressing both spiritual and practical needs helps support long?term growth and well?being.
