Introduction / History

The Humene people live along the Magi Highway to the east of Port Moresby, the nation's capital. The largest Humene village is Manugoro. It is near the beach and close to the Magi Highway. This highway links the Humene people to Port Moresby and also provides them the opportunity to sell produce along the highway.
All generations use their traditional Humene language. The people can also speak Hiri Motu and English.

What Are Their Lives Like?

The Humene people sell bananas, peanuts, cucumber, corn, coconut, aibika, betelnut, or game such as bandicoot or wallaby meat to daily commuters travelling to and from Port Moresby. Pray that the commuters who have God's word will also share the good news with the vendors.

What Are Their Beliefs?

Thank God that the village is readily accessible from Port Moresby and that almost all Humene identify as Christians. This provides an ideal opportunity for workers to help translate the Humene Bible.

What Are Their Needs?

The Humene need both written and audio gospel materials.

Prayer Points

Pray that some will be able to understand the Motu Bible and will share what they hear with their village.
Ask the Lord of the harvest to thrust out workers into this needy harvest field.
