The term "Urdu" does not adequately describe the Urdu people as such, but is merely a language distinction. Urdu, now the official language of Pakistan, is an Indo-Iranian language that developed from the Hindi language. It is heavily laden with Persian and Arabic words and is written in the Persian script. Urdu-speaking Muslims are not an ethnic group in the strictest sense, but are rather a collection of ethnic groups who have been widely dispersed geographically. They possess a sense of "group identity" based on cultural and historical factors.
A majority of the Urdu speakers originate in Pakistan and the northern states of India. However, in recent years, a few Urdu-speaking Muslims have emigrated to Singapore where there are far more economic opportunities than there are in Pakistan.
Singapore is a small nation state.
Most of the Urdu speaking Pakistanis in Singapore are engineers, students, or businessmen. The students usually attend the National University of Singapore.

Urdu speakers are almost always Sunni Muslims.
The Urdu speakers who have migrated to Singapore are among the wealthy and elite in Pakistan and India. It is way too easy for these kinds of people to think that they have everything they need, even though they are spiritually destitute.
Pray that God will give the Urdu speakers in Singapore dreams and visions showing that Jesus Christ is the way to salvation and lead them as to what to do next.
Pray for the Lord to raise up persons of peace among the Urdu speakers who will welcome those who bring the good news to their community in Singapore.
Pray for a disciple-making movement among the Urdu to begin in Singapore that will affect Pakistan.
Scripture Prayers for the Urdu in Singapore.
