The Mossi people constitute the largest single people group in Burkina Faso, occupying a large area in the center of the country. The historic Mossi Kingdom ruled the land until French colonial powers arrived in the nineteenth century.
Though they are far more numerous in West African countries, some Mossi people have made their way to European countries to find better employment. One can find them in Belgium, Italy and France. Others have migrated to Canada or the United States.
In Europe and North America, the Mossi people join other African peoples for social activities. Though some work at low level jobs in factories, there are some with excellent skills who earn a good living in the West.
Despite numerous churches and their own Bible translation, the Mossi retain traditional African religious practices. Those who are Muslim have contact with more orthodox Muslims in the West. Likewise, Christians among them are introduced to other forms of Christianity.
More literacy work, evangelistic films, and unity among different Christian groups may help spread the Good News among the Mossi people. They need to take their spiritual lives seriously enough to seek and find the only savior of humankind.
Pray for biblical materials to make their way into every Mossi household.
Pray for a spiritual hunger that will drive them to the foot of the cross.
Pray for Mossi disciples who will make more disciples.
