Introduction / History

The Jadgali people of Iran trace their origins to western India. Over time, they migrated westward and eventually settled in southeastern Iran, particularly in the region near the borders of Pakistan's (Balochistan) and Sindh provinces. Today, they live mainly in the Sistan va Baluchestan Province, especially around the Saravan area.

They speak the Jadgali language, which belongs to the Indo-European family and reflects their South Asian roots. Their history of migration has shaped both their cultural identity and their geographic distribution, placing them at a crossroads between Iranian and South Asian cultural influences.

What Are Their Lives Like?

Very little detailed information is available about the daily lives of the Jadgali. However, the existing description indicates that they likely share similar patterns of life with neighboring communities in southeastern Iran. These patterns typically include a reliance on agriculture and livestock herding, which are well-suited to the rural and semi-arid environment of the region.

Farming may include small-scale cultivation of crops adapted to limited rainfall, while herding livestock provides both food and income. Daily life is often physically demanding and closely tied to the land, with families working together to meet their needs.

Family structures are likely centered around extended households, where multiple generations live in close relationship and support one another. In such settings, responsibilities are shared, and traditions are passed down orally. Meals are typically simple and based on locally available foods, reflecting both Iranian and South Asian culinary influences.

Social life is often built around family, village relationships, and religious observances. In remote areas, communities may experience limited access to infrastructure, which influences their pace of life and opportunities. Despite the lack of detailed documentation, it is clear that their lives are shaped by resilience, close-knit relationships, and dependence on the natural environment.

What Are Their Beliefs?

The Jadgali are entirely Muslim and follow the dominant Islamic traditions of their region. Their beliefs are based on the teachings of the Koran, which they regard as the final authority for faith and life.

They have little to no exposure to the gospel. Although some limited resources exist—such as portions of Scripture and access to the JESUS Film through digital means—there is no widespread or consistent Christian witness among them. As a result, they do not have a clear understanding of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Their worldview is shaped by Islamic teaching, which influences their understanding of God, morality, and eternal life.

What Are Their Needs?

The Jadgali people have both spiritual and practical needs. Spiritually, they lack consistent access to the gospel in a form that is clear and understandable in their own language. While some Bible portions exist, they need more complete Scripture, as well as ongoing teaching and personal engagement that can lead to true discipleship.

They also face practical challenges common in their region. Reliable access to clean water is a pressing concern in many communities. In addition, access to healthcare is limited, and reaching hospitals can be difficult due to distance and infrastructure challenges.

Long-term engagement that addresses both spiritual and physical needs—through compassionate service, resource development, and relationship-building—will be essential for meaningful impact.

Prayer Items

Pray that the Jadgali people will be adopted through the People Group Adoption program, paving the way for sustained prayer and intentional gospel outreach.
Pray that believers will go to the Jadgali and faithfully share the message of Jesus Christ, building relationships grounded in love and truth.
Pray that a deep spiritual hunger will arise among the Jadgali, leading them to seek and follow Jesus Christ no matter the cost.
Pray for practical improvements in their communities, including reliable access to clean water, medical care, and strengthened infrastructure.
