South Asia Director of People Group Data

Position Summary:

Direct people group research across South Asia, defined as including:

South Asia encompasses a wide diversity of ethnolinguistic groups, castes, religious landscapes, and migration dynamics, making accurate and responsive data essential for advancing the gospel among the least reached.


As South Asia Director of People Group Data, you will lead regional teams, oversee national-level research efforts, and ensure that people group data remains trustworthy, field-informed, and mission-driven. You’ll provide strategic guidance to shape how researchers operate across the region and how the global Church understands and prioritizes unreached peoples in some of the world’s most spiritually diverse and rapidly changing environments.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, mentor, and oversee Regional Coordinators, each responsible for a geographic subregion of South Asia.
  • Guide and equip national representatives in data collection, methodology, and peer learning.
  • Foster a collaborative learning environment among research teams in challenging field contexts.
  • Oversee data collection and updates for South Asian people groups, with a focus on unreached populations.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and responsiveness to field updates.
  • Supervise the review and integration of South Asian people group and mission datasets from other networks, ministries, or denominations.
  • Report monthly to Joshua Project supervisor on activities and progress toward goals.
  • Raise financial support or have other means to support your work. Joshua Project, at times, may assist with travel and ministry expenses.
