Introduction / History

Germany has probably the second largest Pakistani community in Europe next to the U.K. Most are now German nationals. Urdu is the main Pakistani language and is particularly used among the Pakistanis who have lived in Germany for a longer time. Their religion is mainly Islam but there are also Christians and Hindus among them.

Lately many young Pakistanis have come to Germany as science and technology students. Many Pakistanis in Germany are single men and are doing different types of work. Most live in the Rhein-Main region of Frankfurt and some live in Berlin and in other cities too.

A lot of Pakistanis speak English and later generations of the German Pakistanis can speak German well. Earlier generations have a knowledge of the German language also.

Most Pakistanis living in Germany are professional workers such as doctors, scientists, computer workers and others. Some others are self-employed in businesses such as restaurants for example.

There are lower university charges in Germany and this has attracted many Pakistani students to come to them and many Pakistani student societies have been formed. There are several prominent Pakistani people living in Germany including professors.

Prayer Points

* Pray that the Pakistani Christians in Germany will help lead their own people here to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that the professional work of the Pakistanis here will not be a barrier to the gospel message.
